This old and characteristic village is loyal to its cultural heritage. It has numerous small lanes and shaded squares. The village has many small fountains and traces of the Roman occupation ( at what time Ampus was known as Emporium). The traditional spirit gives an original charm for the visitor in Ampus. The village of Ampus is calm and counts approximately 750 inhabitants half of Probably most known for a car race that used to be held here called “course de cote”. The highest speed attained during this race was 240km/h in 1981! being one of the rare times something went things went fast as it seems that time has not moved ahead in this little village.
Being Close to the city of Draguignan Ampus is a good option for a second house. It offers the city and its facilities year round in Draguignan but also has the calm and charm of the Provence village. It is close enough to the lac de Ste Croix for watersports and offers multiple facilities for hikers and (ATB) Biking.
