The history of village of Baudinard sur Verdon goes back the Neolithic and Iron Age. Various objects and paintings were found in the caves of low Gorges du Verdon, confirming a human existence in prehistoric times. The earliest writings of todays Baudinard date from 1113, when Baudinard was still named Bellum Dinarium. This changed into Beldisnard of the Latin Bellodinarium and the Provencal Beoudiran. In 1389, Elzear de Sabran, Baron Ansouis becomes lord of Baudinard by his marriage to Beaucette, Dame de Baudinard. The lordship remain in the hands of Sabran until the French Revolution. In 1852, Baudinard had 402 permanent residents.

In the Regional Natural Park of Verdon, the village of Baudinard dur Verdon stands as a the gate to the Gorges du Verdon, the Grand Canyon of Europe.
