The village of Plan de la Tour is grouped around its gorgeous bell tower. When he died, the land of Sainte Maxime and the valley of Pracouniou, including the future territory of Plan de la Tour, are attached to the land of Callianez Guillaume, who establishes the principality for his son in law. This period in history saw the creation of villages pitons such as Grimaud, La Garde Freinet and Gassin. These centuries are also known for the though times for the municipality, devastated by wars and the Black Death in the fifteenth century. The lands of Plan de la Tour were virtually emptied of inhabitants. It was not until the sixteenth century that the rebirth of the current Plan de la Tour came about. The name of Plan de la Tour will appear for the first time in an act of 1613.
With a growing population, the church of Saint Martin is built in 1770 and became the hamlet of Saint Martin Plan de la Tour. On 5 December 1790, Plan de la Tour is detached from La Garde Freinet and became an independent municipality. This does however not mean that it already had the contours and the area it has today. Indeed, throughout the nineteenth century, the town will grow and strengthen its position as a rival town of the seaside town of Sainte Maxime. It is not until June 1835, that Plan de la Tour manages to snatch approximately 1,700 hectares of the best land of Saint Maxim. Plan de la Tour will reach its present dimensions in 1922, after more than a century of struggles. After the wars of 1914-1918 and 1939-1945, the village of Plan de la Tour was installed in todays modern world, rich in its past and offering the best for the future.
