Rians is located in the heart of the Provence, in the department of Var and the region of Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur. Rians has a population of 3626 people, divided into 1781 Riansaises and 1845 Riansais.

Rians is located at the crossing of 3 valleys at nearly 400 metres (355 to be exact) above sea level. Rians is spread over an area of about 97 square km is one of the most extensive in the Var. Rians is a rather large village, located between Sainte Baume, Aix en Provence and the Sainte Victoire. Rians is bordered by the department of Bouches du Rhone. Rians is built around a snail's steeple and will delight enthusiasts of history and archaeology by its rich heritage. The lowest point in Rians is 292 meters above sea level, lies on Vallat of Abeou stream to the east of the village.
