Tourtour was called Valuegne Saint Domnin, until the tenth century. Tourtour has two towers or Tours in French: the Saint Denis church to the east and the old medieval castle in the west. This gave the present village the Name of Tower and Tower or Tour Tour, which later became Tourtour. Tourtour was built on the passage of water sources. The main source is called the Holy Rosary. The water served to fuel oil and flour mills and obviously for domestic purposes.
The coat of arms bearing the two towers of Tourtour was established under the famous king Louis XIV. In those days, the family of the Tour had the medieval castle and the Tour de Grimaud.
